My calves probably hate me after this morning. I’d hate me too if I were them.

I took another run, this time longer and I don’t think I’ll be doing that shit again tomorrow. I haven’t ran for 50 minutes in over four weeks (i.e. since the lock down started in South Africa).

Anyway, after my run I was pleased to have found out my little brother and cousin still hadn’t arrived home yet. I carried on running a short bit and made it back home. Still nothing. I bathed. And dressed up. Still nothing. Only after a short while from then did their tired asses arrive.

They made the mistake of walking when the were tired instead of jogging slowly like a geriatric.

The pride in beating them deflated slightly when an image of David Goggins appeared in my mind. If he were running with us my run would barely even cut it as warm up.

(Oh and yes, I did run topless this chilly winter morning to do something slightly more challenging. Because Goggins).

So what’s my take away from this?

I mustn’t forget about who I contrast myself to.

Mentally I must conjure people better than me in running when I do so next time to challenge myself to run further and with a higher pace instead of taking the easy route of feeling good over beating people (my younger brother and cousin) who’re not as skilled yet at running far before crumbling.

That’s it for today.

Day 2/30

P.S I was 98% close to skipping writing tonight.

Good thing I didn’t.
